SABRE WITH TURKISH FITTINGS
Polish arms

auctions040Steel blade, plane, of Persian “shamshir” type. On the forte golden “turga”. Cross hilt made of silver, with elongated arms, thickened at the ends. Hilt, covered with horn plaques, is ended with rounded and bended pommel, with opening for the sword-knot.

Lenght of the blade: 77 cm; overall lenght: 91 cm; curvator: 9 cm.

Turkish, beginn. of the 19th c.

PERSIAN SABRE – “SHAMSHIR” WITH THE SHEATH

auctions042Blade made of wootz steel, plane. Crosshilt made of steel, with elongated arms, thickened at the ends. Plaques made of horn with slanting, twisted, silver wire. The bended pommel is with metal cover. Sheath made of wood, covered with shagreen, with metal fittings.

ORIENTAL SABRE WITH SHEATH

auctions046Blade made of wootz steel, plane, covered with golden arabic inscriptions and marks. Crosshilt made of steel, thickened at the ends, with signs of golden lettering. Base of the hilt is twisted with silver wire. Plaques made of horn, inlaid with silver and brass. Both plaques are separated with brass binding, decorated with geometrical design. To strenghten the hilt additional silver plates are attached to the hilt, where floral design is engraved. Sheath made of wood, covered with leather, with metal fittings. Some of the fittings are decorated with golden and silver ornaments.

Hilt plaques separated with brass binding decorated with floral design.

Steel blade, curved, double edged, with prominent ridge running through the middle of the blade on both sides. Hilt in shape of capital letter “I”, made of walrus’ fang. It is decorated with engraved figural motif and inscriptions.

CAUCASIAN KAMA WITH SHEATH

Handle narrowing in the middle for better grip, plaques of the hilt made of bone, partially covered with silver plates, decorated with niello. Plaques attached to the tang with three rivets, covered with decorated heads. Sheath made of wood, covered with black shagreen, with silver, nielloed fittings decorated with geometric floral design.
